Pitti Uomo Winter Report: Personal Experience, Outfits, and Observations from Florence

Time flies very fast, and this is where I want to start. Be here and now, and value this resource. It feels like just yesterday I was thinking about what I would wear to the winter Pitti Uomo, and today I am already writing a report about how it went.

It was incredibly good. As always.

A large number of friends I was happy to see, and a big amount of work.

I want to share how everything went, what stayed with me the most, and what I noticed and discovered for myself.

Arrival in Italy and the Creative Black Tie Event

We flew to Rome first, and the next day we went to Florence. One day before Pitti started, there was an event in a beautiful location, with a lot of music, joy, and dancing. The dress code was creative black tie. It happened that my girlfriend and I had tailored suits for New Year that were similar to tuxedos. That is what I decided to wear. I liked it — it felt truly creative and perfectly matched the atmosphere of the event.

First Day at Pitti Uomo: The Long-Planned Coat

On the first day, I decided to wear that very coat I had imagined and wanted to bring to life for a long time. I added our olive trousers, loafers, and our blue knit with a denim shirt and a tie. I liked the outfit. To be honest, I approach the summer Pitti Uomo more seriously, because I prefer warmer, sunny weather and more colors. Still, the coat received many compliments, and that was very pleasant.

Second Day Outfit: Jacket, Cream Trousers, and Comfort

On the second day, I wore our popular short jacket again, with a shirt and a tie, and of course our cream trousers. The reactions — both at the festival and on social media — showed that everything was done well. At first, I thought it would not be very warm and that not wearing a coat was a bad idea, but in reality the weather turned out perfect and it was very comfortable. Honestly, this was my favorite outfit of all the days.

Third Day: Letting the Weather Decide

On the third day, I was a capricious child. Or rather, I was simply trying to act according to the weather. I originally planned to wear a dark blue suit with a coat, but when I stepped outside and realized it was warm and I would feel hot, I decided to change. I wore grey trousers, a shirt, a tie, and a green cardigan. Even this look received positive reactions, although I did not expect it at all.

Reflections Beyond the Outfits

I have written the report for you, but now I want to share more important thoughts and observations.

What did I underline for myself? For several Pitti Uomo editions now, I have been observing an older gentleman from Japan and his outfits. They are almost always monochrome and do not stand out in any obvious way. But every time I see him, I really like it. And this time I understood why.

He is exactly the gentleman who highlights himself not with color or brightness, but with calmness and harmony — the harmony he has created in his outfits and within himself. I liked this very much. This is that exact image when you look at a gentleman and ask yourself: “I do not know why, but he looks great.” That is the secret. He is real.

Dinner, Conversations, and Growth

And of course, our dinner with my good friends from Athens. As always, very warm and joyful. But what stayed with me the most were our deep conversations, including discussions about menswear. I will not share those here, but I added them to my personal collection of growth in menswear.

Final Thoughts After Pitti Uomo

I hope you followed this Pitti Uomo and that it brought you value. If not, you can still look through reports and find many new ideas and inspiration for yourself.

I also want to thank you for your support and for your kind words — both during the preparation period and after the event.

Quote of the Week

Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.

William Penn

Fact in the Spotlight

Florence was one of the first cities in Europe to introduce public street lighting in the 1600s. Evening walks became safer and longer, and the city slowly developed a culture of reflection and conversation after sunset.

That’s all for today. See you on Saturday next week!

Yours sincerely, Anton Masko
