I have already shared on my Instagram that at the end of February, I was invited to speak at a private club, and let me share my thoughts on the city, what I discussed at the event, and my reflections.

Vienna

In early February, I received an invitation by email to give a lecture on men’s style at a closed business club in Vienna. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m the kind of person who always says “yes” to life!

I believe that if we remain closed off and always wait for the perfect moment to be ready, that moment will never come! Let’s open the doors to meetings, adventures, and experiences.

I already had experience speaking about men’s style, and the main reason it was easy is because I shared personal experiences with the gentlemen, not just material from the internet. That made a big difference, so the key is to start. By nature, I always get nervous at the beginning, but once I start talking about what I love, I calm down, and it always ends successfully.

There were more than 25 people at the event, and from the start, I thought about how I could be useful to such an audience of successful individuals.

We started with a tradition: a cup of espresso before the speech, comparing this ritual to “the little life” and our attitude toward it. Then we moved on to discussing men’s style in the context of art. It’s no coincidence that we call this series “The Art of Being a Man.” We talked about classic style, not fashion, and compared it to some of my favorite periods in art – the Renaissance and the Baroque. We discussed the commonalities and moved on to creating a basic wardrobe. Which items are always relevant, what colors, and how to put together outfits. During the lecture, I always answered questions and addressed them. There were many, which showed that the lecture was an exchange of information and the gentlemen were interested in what we had to offer.

We started the second part by discussing not only men’s wardrobes but also other important things: energy, useful habits, and so on. I shared interesting case studies from my practice, and in the end, we analyzed the outfits of the gentlemen who came to me, discussing what was good about their outfits and what could be improved.

Was it helpful for men? I dare say yes. As evidence, our lecture lasted 3 hours instead of the planned 2, and afterward, people approached me, asked questions, and shared impressions. At the end of the day, the club owner wrote to me, thanking me and saying that our lecture had a very positive resonance that no one expected. I was very pleased to give a lecture for such successful men, to be useful to them, and to prove that style can greatly influence our lives and also serve as an example for our environment.

Oh, and I forgot to share my impression of Vienna! A wonderful city with delightful architecture! I recommend everyone to see it in person and enjoy every inch of this great city. Wishing everyone a wonderful spring, and the quote of the week will be the experience I gained from this event: “Say yes to life! Don’t close the door on it.”

Fact in the Spotlight

In Italy, coffee was first tried in 1615, while in Venice, the world-famous café “Florian” opened in 1720 on St. Mark’s Square. Rubinstein, Goethe, and Casanova frequented this café. Meanwhile, at the “Guaridi” café, located in the same area, Byron and Liszt were known to visit.

That’s all for today. See you on Saturday next week!

Yours sincerely, Anton Masko
