I already told you the story with the visa, why I stayed longer in Minsk and what we came up with. Here, I would like to finally talk about the jacket and what came out of it.
In the picture, everything looked very beautiful, but I want to tell you that it was not that simple. When you spend almost every weekday evening for a month sewing a jacket until two in the morning and, half-asleep, prick your finger with a needle. It’s quite an experience.

But, if you ask me if I regret it, I would say it was very cool, and I am very glad that I took on this challenge with Dmitry. And considering the result, that’s another story entirely.
Initially, Dmitry and I were just thinking of sewing a jacket, but then I thought, what if we manage to finish it by Pitti Uomo and I can wear it there? That would be a great highlight.
Honestly, there was little chance of this. But… you know me!
Wearing the Custom Jacket at Pitti Uomo
I decided to wear the jacket on the second day, and I was still sewing it for three hours before going out. More precisely, we were cleaning it from loose threads and other elements.
At first, when I put it on, it was somewhat uncomfortable. But later, I didn’t want to take it off and was ready to sleep in it, just like when I was a child and wore my Real Madrid football kit to bed.
And I didn’t expect to get so many compliments on the jacket and the overall look. Friends also came up to me and asked if this was the jacket I had sewn. I said yes, and everyone was very pleasantly surprised.
Dmitry, are you ready for the next Pitti?
Fact in the Spotlight
Did you know that the modern fashion show originated in the 19th century? The first fashion shows, known as “fashion parades,” were organized in the 1850s by the Paris couturier Charles Frederick Worth to showcase the newest creations for his customers. These very earliest shows were held in private salons, with living models who would represent real life in motion — an initial step away from merely showing the clothes on mannequins. It was Worth who initiated an innovative approach that has grown into today’s often over-the-top runway shows.
Quote of the Week
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
