In this article, I will share information on how to effectively care for your footwear without requiring much time and effort. By following basic procedures and using specific accessories, you can extend the lifespan of your shoes and keep them in excellent condition.

All the recommendations I provide stem from my own experience, and thanks to these methods, my footwear always looks outstanding over prolonged periods of use.

Accessories

Essential accessories for shoe care include:

  • Brush (each type of leather should have its own brush)
  • Shoe trees (preferably wooden)
  • Regular cloth for removing sand and dust
  • Shoehorn for ease of putting on shoes and preventing damage to the heels.

The purpose of these accessories:

The brush is used to remove dirt that accumulates during the day, preserving the structure of the shoes and keeping them looking fresh. Shoe trees help prevent the formation of creases on the upper part of the shoe and the instep, aligning the shoe and eliminating unevenness. The cloth is used to remove excess dirt, and the shoehorn is employed to put on shoes without damaging the back.

How to use the accessories

Upon returning home, insert shoe trees into your shoes. If the shoes haven’t gotten wet in the rain, carefully clean them with a brush. For suede shoes, use a specialized brush. If the shoes got wet, gently remove sand and let them dry naturally, avoiding direct exposure to heaters and sunlight.

Ensure your shoes get sufficient rest. After wearing a pair, give them a minimum of 24 hours before wearing them again. Clean your shoes immediately upon returning home, not when you are about to leave.

This straightforward shoe care routine, drawn from my experience, helps maintain their attractiveness and longevity. As the saying goes, clean shoes are the key to making a successful impression. Don’t miss the opportunity to care for your footwear and increase your chances of success.
